• 1. Meets the design program: provides for the needs of all users, including directional, recreational, food service areas, etc. If commercial property: attracts customers and is appropriate to the streetscape

  2. Within the general budget for comparable designs.

  3. Meets legal requirements and safety standards; meets the needs for vehicular parking and of pedestrian traffic; meets all signage requirements and restrictions. 

II. Design (suitability to user) = 25 points

• 1. Function

     1. Is suitable/appropriate to site and context

     2. Is sustainable within region

     3. Considers utilization of space, including pedestrian traffic patterns and vehicular parking

  2. Aesthetic

• • 1. Design principles employed successfully

    2. Design elements applied successfully

    3. Shows originality, distinction, style: distinguished for its superiority 

III. Implementation = 25 points

• 1. Hardscape materials & structures

     1. Are suitable/appropriate to purpose, site, and design

     2. Contains suitable details; character/quality appropriate

  2. Plant Materials

• • 1. Are suitable to purpose, site, and design

    2. Are appropriate to region/zone 

IV. Maintenance = 25 points

• 1. Incorporates maintenance awareness into design

  2. Includes selection of sustainable materials and recognition of ultimate plant habit in design
